Ban Discriminatory Auto Insurance Rating Practices
We demand that the NJ State Legislature ban the use of education and occupation in setting auto insurance prices for NJ drivers. GEICO and other major auto insurance companies doing business in NJ use education and occupation to determine the auto insurance rates consumers pay. This practice must be banned to ensure that New Jerseyans are not subject to discriminatory insurance prices. Education and occupation serve as proxies for race and class, resulting in lower-income people and minorities being charged disproportionately higher rates.
In less than two minutes, you can e-mail the New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine urging him to pass these reforms.
